Granite Adventure Racing  Brings the Gold Back to New England

In case you missed all the action, 2009 US Adventure Racing Association (USARA) National Championships were this past weekend in Pilot Point, Texas. Weather took and unexpected turn (again at Nationals!) as 70 teams battled strong winds on the lakes and bikes and the temps dipped into the 30's over night. Granite AR fielded two teams. They both managed to rise above all the natural adversity to be the very decisive winner, racing in front nearly the entire time from the moment the starting gun went off. Yup! There is a new sheriff in town! Hailing from New Hampshire the team roster includes some very familiar "who's who" names of adventure racing in the northeast and the country: Captain Dave Lamb with Chad Denning and Jenny Johnson; and Captain Dave Romilly with Erik Grimm and Melissa Combers.

Congrats also to Team Berlin Bike who finished second in the 2009 USARA Point series. Other top northeast finishes included Eastern Mountain Sports Monster Masters who won the masters category for the third year in a row (three-peat!) and Dark Horse masters has another year on the masters podium finishing third.

Congrats to all and anyone else form the northeast I may have forgotten! Check out the USARA Nationals website for all the coverage and get ready.... 2010 nationals will be coming to the northeast- Pennsylvania!!
