US Ski and Snowboard Museum Hall of Fame Inducts Largest Class Since '84
Three adaptive skiers head up the largest class of inductees to the US Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame since 1984. Jack Benedick, Chris Wadell and Sarah Will are the first adaptive skiers to enter the Hall since the late Diana Golden was honored in 1997.
Joining them are three well known names from the ski world: Stu Campbell, Doug
Coombs and Paul Robbins. Rounding out the class of eight are Sepp Kober, the
"Father of Southern Skiing" and ski jumper Ansten Samuelstuen, a holder of
three national and four North American titles.
The nominees for 2009 were chosen by a Selection Committee made up of respected experts in skiing and snowboarding from across the country. It was this committee's task to review all submissions sent to the Hall of Fame. Anyone can make a submission through the Museum website. The names were placed on the ballot were sent to the National Voting Panel of more than 75 electors. The inductees each received at least 60% of the votes cast by these electors.
Hardly household names, but an impressive class nonetheless. |
