Resort Sports Network and Outside Magazine to Form New TV Network

 

Resort Sports Network (RSN) and Mariah Media, publishers of Outside Magazine, today announced the launch of the Outside Television Network. This will be a complete rebranding of the existing Resort Sports Network, the national television network that specializes in creating and distributing outdoor-lifestyle content to premier vacation destinations throughout the country. The network is scheduled to debut as the Outside Television Network on June 1, 2010. 

The joint venture will unite two leading media companies with large audiences among people living the active lifestyle. This unprecedented deal will provide Mariah Media with the means to reach its audience on all platforms, print, television, and digital. Simultaneously, it allows the Emmy Award winning RSN to leverage the Outside brand and gives RSN the opportunity to collaborate with Mariah Media's editors on content creation while offering advertisers more multifaceted opportunities. 

 

Look for more and better national programming on RSN. However, local programming has always been the driving force behind RSN's top ratings in all the resort markets where it is carried. The audience tunes in for hard information about the resort they are visiting. How this will help the affiliates who produce the local content remains to  be seen.
