ERIK RIDES THE
SUMMERTIME RAILS
Diehard Skiers and Riders take a last
run at winter - Memorial Day Rail Jams at Windham and Belleayre Mountains in
New York's Catskills.
COMING SOON: SUMMER
We're shifting into bathing suit mode. That
means wakeboarding, skateboarding, and all sorts of extreme warm weather
sports. Below Eric McPherson wakeboards and Jeff Spain Jetskis on Lake
Mahopac.
But you can't change gears so fast. Just like
the seasons develop gradually, we are reluctant to give up snow and need
time for our transitions. Two Memorial Day Rail Jams helped Team RadX make
it through snowsports withdrawal.
Team RadX -
The First Season
Three athletes, three challenges, three talented
underachievers out to prove they have what it takes.
They set out to compete in boarder- and skiercross,
but reality got in the way. Without sponsorships our talented team had to stay
close to home. Still, Erik was coaching and running a great freestyle program at
Belleayre; Mikey was winning races almost at will; and Ron was being the Carvefather, a true superstar and one of the founders of an important new
organization, the American Carving Association.

The Athletes of Team RadX
Ron Maita
AKA The Carvefather
Lightening fast and smooth as satin on his
snowboard, Ron is 44 years old and a full time
contractor.
He is leaving all this behind to pursue his
dream of being a pro snowboarder. Will he make it, or will be
another burnt out snow bum? He's the first Team Member with his own
website.
Mikey's a great athlete, no doubt about
that, but is he a true professional?. He, was a shot putter in
high school and is a veritable bull on the mountain. His
sport is skiercross. Can he pull it together to win
something of significance next season? He's not off to an
auspicious start.
Erik is a Jersey kid, a free style skier
who acknowledges no limits or rules. He's gotten into his
fair share of trouble, but he can't help himself, he wants to go big in
style. The challenge to him is to play by the rules and
do what it takes to win by the book.
